Contractor of the Year

Entry Criteria

Working on a single timber project? Or a specialist contractor working consistently with timber technology across the built environment in multiple sectors?

This award seeks to find a contractor of any size with the scope and strategy to deliver sustainable, low-carbon, cost-effective contemporary buildings of any type, from conception to completion.

Working seamlessly with a regional or national supply chain, ensuring client satisfaction, excellent health and safety, methodical and reliable working practices with proof of commitment to sustainability, circular economy principles, social value and understanding the wider benefits of timber usage and skills are essential.

Entry Questions:

1. Describe how the timber technology and wider construction supply chain that you have been engaged with has maximised the potential of timber and employed best practice from early involvement to project delivery.

2. Describe how the selection of team members, supply chain partners and timber specialists were chosen based on long term value, knowledge and expertise in timber usage and an engaged sustainable mindset — not just price.

3. Demonstrate how the timber construction model was used to improve project outcomes in comparison to other materials, e.g. use of digital construction technology and tools//BIM, AI/VR/AR, factory manufacture, site delivery and installation.

4. How has working with timber impacted on your collaborative team and organisation as a whole – have you undergone any cultural or mindset changes following your work with a timber-based project?

5. Give FIVE key reasons why your work and approach are exceptional and should be considered as the best example this year. Can it be seen as a future example for others to follow, has it provided a unique and innovative building solution, has it improved your approach and understanding of low carbon design and circular economy principles.
